Golden Of The Week

Charlie
10635

Charlie is an 9 year old, red male who was originally adopted from Rescue five years ago. He was returned because his owners now have children and Charlie is not comfortable with little ones. He needs an adult household with no other dogs. Charlie current on his vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped and ready to meet his new family.

From Charlie's foster home:

Charlie has made himself totally at home. He is a great escape artist and now basically has the run of the place. But this isn't an issue as he is really well behaved. The first day I brought him home I thought I had a major issue as I got him upstairs and then when it was time to take him out I found out he was absolutely petrified of going down the stairs. I just couldn't entice him with food or toys and he was crying. Eventually I had to drag him down. After that first time he basically just slides down on his stomach, this went on for a couple of days. Now he flies down them.

Charlie loves playing with his toys and tries to get 2-3 toys in his mouth. He LOVES going for walks and even gets all excited when you say "Do you want to go for a walk?". He would actually prefer to run all the time but I can not keep up with him. Charlie does go all over the place when he starts his walk, he just doesn't know which way to go first. He loves to keep his nose to the ground and at times goes around in circles when he is tracking a scent.

We were told that he didn't like other dogs and he definitely doesn't. It seems that he is scared of the dogs or just doesn't know what to do. He wags his tail when he sees a dog and then just freezes. When the other dog has passed he wants to run away as fast as possible.

Otherwise, he has settled in and loves chasing the ball and getting pats. Charlie know sit, down, shake, stay (until you are out of sight) and wait.

Does it Cost Anything to Adopt a Golden?

Your adoption fee helps save homeless Golden Retrievers and place them in new loving homes. We are a nonprofit 501(C)(3) corporation run entirely by volunteers and funded by your contributions.

Prior to arriving at Rescue, all new Goldens get a trip to our veterinarian for complete checkups, required immunizations, heart worm tests/treatments, spaying or neutering (if necessary), and any medications prescribed by our vet. Adoption fees cover vet costs and pay for food, care, and "lodging" while staying with Rescue.

How To Adopt

Adoption fees: Dogs 4yrs and under $300, Dogs 5 yrs and older $250

Of course, if you would like to donate more, we will graciously accept it.

Donations given that are not adoption fees are tax-deductible.
